Emma's nominated for an Oscar + official statement
Emma's been nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Supporting Actress category for her work in Birdman!
Emma's official statement:
"Well, this is surreal. I am completely knocked out," she said in a statement. "Thank you to the Academy for this incredible honor. I am very proud and lucky to be a part of Birdman and can't believe it came to this. I am so f--king excited. Are you allowed to say f--k when you're making a statement for the Oscars? I'm just really f--king excited."

Cabaret on Broadway, 2014–present
I’m listening to Radio Nova, which is this retro-feeling online French radio station. I don’t understand what anybody’s saying, but the music is so good that it just makes me feel perfectly misplaced. I listen to that in my dressing room, which I don’t think anyone else appreciates, but I do. I’ve been watching this rare, live performance of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Judy Garland on YouTube, and I play “It’s Only a Paper Moon” by Ella Fitzgerald a lot. That song just makes me think of Sally Bowles. I have a huge paper moon in my dressing room with [costar] Alan Cumming’s face in it. I also read Christopher Isherwood’s Berlin Stories before I go on each night. It’s what the play is based on, so I reread different Sally portions to re-remind me of the person I’m playing.

"Yeah, I gave myself a black eye last night," Emma Stone says with a laugh. "During the 'Mein Herr' number, I whipped off my leather jacket and hit myself with the belt buckle. Nice, huh?"
Nice indeed. At 26, the husky-voiced actor is thriving in a way that the two wounded women who've brought her to a career peak are not: the gin-soaked and divinely decadent Sally Bowles of the Broadway revival of "Cabaret" and Sam, the tightly wound, embittered daughter in Alejandro G. Iñárritu's film "Birdman." The latter role has surrounded Stone with Oscar buzz after her recent Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations.
Sitting in a noisy Midtown Manhattan diner, Stone points to a swelling near her left eye that in no way detracts from the saucer-eyed beauty of the would-be wanton of "Easy A" and girlfriend Gwen Stacy in the "Spider-Man" franchise.

In the latter, they signal the world-weary flirtatiousness of woman who’s availability is tempered by the fact that she’s heard every line and doesn’t suffer fools or bullshit artists. Ladies and gentlemen, Emma Stone has come out of the "Amazing Spider-Man" fire and survived.
After almost three years of pretty much filming the Sony franchise flicks back to back, she's finally getting to stretch her wings again. The latest reminder of her incredible talent is her performance as Sam, Michael Keaton's big screen daughter in Alejandro González Iñárritu's "Birdman." The drama, centered on a former Hollywood superstar (Riggan Thompson) attempting to revive his career on Broadway, is one of the most acclaimed films of the year. Stone brings an unexpected depth to Sam and she's generated serious Best Supporting Actress buzz for her work.
The second reminder is her upcoming stint as Sally Bowles in the Broadway revival of "Cabaret." Stone was originally supposed to star in the new production last spring, but had to take a mental break for a few months after being in a 24/7 "Spider-Man" world. She bowed out and none other than Michelle Williams substituted for her at the last minute. While other actresses would be afraid to replace someone else in a current show, Stone is karmically making this right by stepping in after Williams' run ends this week.
Stone took some time on Sunday to talk to HitFix about "Birdman" and, specifically, that final scene she'll be asked about for years.
HitFix: I was moderating a Q&A with your "Birdman" producer John Lesher this weekend and he mentioned something I was unaware of, that you were shooting this movie and "Spider-Man 2" at the same time.
Emma Stone: Well, since "Spider-Man" was a six-month shoot I had like a month of downtime in the middle of the shoot so "Birdman" was in that month.
He actually sounded like he was afraid there were days they were going to steal you away and it was going to affect the production.
This is less exciting, but I feel like I had the full month off guaranteed, but maybe I didn't. Honestly, my mind is like the mind of 116-year-old person that has bad memory. I do not remember what has happened in my life as a whole. [Laughs.] So I don't remember how it went back then. I do remember it was during "Spider-Man 2."

In the film “Birdman,” directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, she plays Sam, a young woman fresh out of rehab and furious at her father, Riggan Thomson (Michael Keaton). Sam agrees to be his assistant as he obsesses over staging his Broadway adaptation of a Raymond Carver story, but then feels neglected and relegated to menial tasks like getting his coffee.
Ms. Stone, 25 years old, filmed several of her “Birdman” scenes on the rooftop of Broadway’s St. James Theatre on 44th Street, just 10 blocks from where she will star in her own show, “Cabaret” at Studio 54, starting Nov. 11.
